Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference 2024 – Tickets now waitlisted

Go Gentle Australia and VADANZ are delighted to announce the second trans-Tasman Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference, which will be held at QUT – Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane on 28-29 October 2024.

The conference will have a research focus and we’re pleased to have partnered with QUT’s Australian Centre for Health Law Research to support this.

Following the success of the inaugural conference, we’re excited to once again bring together VAD clinicians and policymakers for what promises to be an informative and thought-provoking two days.

The program is available here.

Exclusive to VADANZ members: 10% off conference ticket prices.

PLEASE NOTE: There is now a waitlist for in-person tickets. We encourage you to join as more tickets may become available. Last year everyone on the waitlist was able to attend.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the full program be released?
A full program is now available! Click here to view.

Will I be sent my conference pass in advance?
After purchasing your ticket(s) you will receive tickets in a confirmation email, sent to the email address you provided. The email will be from the ticketing platform, Humanitix. If you can’t find your ticket, first check your email spam folder. If there is still no sign of your ticket, click the ‘Contact host’ button on the VADCON24 event page, select ‘Can’t find my ticket/invoice’ and fill out the form. Your tickets will automatically be sent to you.

How do virtual passes work?
Virtual passes allow you to watch the event online from another location. They work in exactly the same way as other tickets; with one-day or two-day virtual passes available. You get most of the same content, however you will not be able to participate in interactive sessions. These tickets are cheaper than attending in-person. If you purchase a virtual pass, you will receive a confirmation email from Humanitix. A link to join the event will be emailed to you on the day prior to the conference.

Who can attend the conference?
The conference is open to anyone aged 18+.

Can I buy tickets for more than one person?
You can purchase tickets for more than one person, but you will need to enter full details for each attendee of the conference at the checkout. Each individual will need their ticket on their personal device on the day so we can check you in separately.

What networking opportunities are there?
There are pre-conference networking drinks for early arrivals the evening before the conference, and again at the end of Day 1 (Monday). There is also a conference dinner on the Monday evening, not to mention chances to speak to your colleagues throughout the program with regular comfort breaks. Please note VADANZ members also have the opportunity to book a meeting space for up to 30 people. To enquire, email admin@vadanz.org.au

I’ve purchased a conference ticket, can I attend the networking events?
The pre-conference and Day 1 networking drinks are both complimentary, however you must register to attend in advance. You will not be able to register for networking on the day.

Do you recommend any hotels close to the venue?
We are pleased to be partnering with VOCO Brisbane City Centre, conveniently located in the heart of the CBD – a 20min walk from the conference venue at QUT Gardens Point. VOCO are offering conference ticket-holders a special rate on rooms. Use this link when booking your room to access the discount.

How can I get to the venue on the day?
More details will be provided closer to the date.

How does the waitlist work?
If no in-person tickets are available to purchase, you can join the waitlist. If people cancel or can no longer attend, tickets may become available. At this point, they will be released to the waitlist so you will need to keep an eye on your email.

What if I can no longer attend the conference?
For information on our cancellations and refunds policy, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
Yes, but we need to be notified of your replacement. It’s important for safety reasons that we know who is present on the day. For further details, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.

Does this conference qualify for CPD?
Yes. Contact your professional body for more information.

What catering is provided?
Morning tea, a light lunch and afternoon tea are provided, as well as tea, coffee and drinks throughout the day. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options will be available if you specify this when you sign up. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee other diets will be catered for. Numerous cafes are on-site where you can purchase other refreshments. No food is allowed in the main lecture theatre, but otherwise you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks on-site.
